The Art Masters of Old work with young apprentices to execute their ideas.  Families would send their children to become apprentices to the Masters in hope that they learn techniques and styles from these Masters.  It was not unusual to see children in influential families devote their lives to painting and the arts.  Of these, the better known Impressionist artists were:  Frederic Bazille and Mary Cassat.

KinderArt's Little Apprentice teaches your child the techniques of the old Masters.  Your child learns to identify Masterpieces and to describe them in expressive language that will stay with him/her for life.  Your child learns to differentiate between artistic styles of the Masters.

Classes start with introducing the little artist to the Great Masters and their paintings with story-book highlights into the History of Art.  Our classes point out the difference between different schools of art, eg., Pointillism, Cubism, Romantics.

CHINESE ART AND CALLIGRAPHY

Sarah, 12-year old, home from the US.  Learning to love her Chinese roots.

For 8- 12 year olds.

Every lesson starts with a Chinese story.  Your child expands his/her knowledge of China and learns Chinese art.   For example, we talk about why the dragon is an auspicious symbol in Chinese folklore and we teach your child to draw or make symbolic dragons.  Another lesson describes the development of pictograms into Chinese characters, and teaches your child Calligraphic techniques.

We emphasise the development of a love for Chinese culture.  Especially for children coming from non-Chinese speaking homes.
